Dulles area Transportation Status

TRANSPORTATION UPDATES (VDOT
AND LOUDOUN COUNTY OFFICE OF
TRANSPORTATION)

Route 50 Traffic Calming – Village of Aldie (7/08) – Current estimates are showing a $1 million shortfall for the reduced project. The full project has an additional shortfall of $1.5 million. The Route 50 Task Force is seeking additional funding in order to keep the project schedule on track.

Route 50 Traffic Calming – Gilbert’s Corner Roundabouts (Design Build Awarded) – Utility relocation and Right of Way negotiations have started. A groundbreaking is expected in late February, 2008.

Route 50/Six Lane Widening from Poland Road to Lee Road in Fairfax CAD 2013) – The consultant’s agreement has been submitted to the Central Office for signature. The
developers who proffered the 3rd westbound lane are preparing multiple Design Exception to justify their design.

Route 659 – Belmont Ridge Road PE (North of Greenway to Rt. 7) (CAD 9/10) – A combined Location and Design Public Hearing is scheduled for December 10 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Stone Bridge High School.

Pacific Blvd. – Design and Construction Severn Way to Autoworld Way (CAD 1/08) – eight design/build teams submitted Statements of Qualifications. Three will be selected tosubmit proposals. The RFP should go out in January 2008.

Waxpool Road (CAD 2013) – This is a project to pave a section of Waxpool Road from Route 659 to the paved portion. Project handoff scheduled for December 12th.

Traffic Calming 4 way stop at Edgewater and Poland (9/18/07) – Study completed – coordinating with Office of Transportation.

Signal Warrant Request – Route 606 and Oakgrove Road (VDOT) – The consultant should be making final submittal.

Signal Warrant Request – Route 606 and Freeport (VDOT) – The County and the developer are working out the details.

Signal Warrant Analysis – Route 50/Pinebrook (Developer Signal) – Preliminary signal design approved on 02/16/07.

Signal at Route 606/Ariane Way (Developer Signal) – OTS staff is trying to obtain easement documents so developer can proceed to construction.

Ashburn Village/Ryan and Shellhorn Roads (County signal) – Permit issued, foundation designs being revised.

Signal – Ashburn Village and Waxpool – On hold waiting for completion of road widening.
